Visit San Francisco
San Francisco is the fourth most populated city of California. It is located on the West Coast of the United States at the tip of the San Francisco Peninsula. It is bordered by Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay. It includes many islands - Alcatraz, Treasure Island, Yerba Buena Island, uninhabited Farallon Islands and portions of Alameda Island, Red Rock Island, and Angel Island.San Francisco is known for its hills. The city has more than 50 hills. Mount Davidson 925 feet high is the tallest hill. This is why most of the nearby areas are named after hills, like, Nob Hill, Pacific Heights and Russian Hill.
San Francisco is also known for frequent earthquakes. Hence, most of the infrastructure is built keeping in mind their regular threat. Most of the earthquakes are due to San Andreas and Hayward Faults.
San Francisco is a peninsula, covered by water on three sides. Hence, it has a moderate climate. It has dry cool summers and wet, mild winters. The ocean water and mainland heat together may create fog that may cover a good western part of the city all day during spring and early summer.
